The Burrage & Longwood Railway is owned by the Whittier family of Lunenburg, Massachusetts. The
layout built in 2003, first consisted of a 20' loop with a passing siding for station stops. To date the railroad has
grow to include a small railyard, 100+ feet of track and a steel bridge over the Longwood river. Several more industries
have been added to service the Strawberry crop harvest.
The railroad is operated by conventional DC track power.
Trains are controlled using remote control. Buildings are a mix of wood and plastic kits, with one built from scratch.
Our layout has an ever growing population of figures and diecast cars. These help create some interesting scenes. Like real railroads
we are affected by weather and pests. Ballast repair is sometimes needed after a hard rain and the occasional attack
of chipmunks must be dealt with.
